GAME OF GOLF

GOLF TRAINING

Golf course /putting greens or at home on a carpeted surface. The following drills were specifically designed by golf instructors to help you get the maximum details of the game.

Following steps:
1. Measure the surface speed and select a distance to practice
2. Locate the suggested back swing length for the distance
3. begin your put using this back swing length

4. Line up the back swing length with the ruler for guidance. Adjust the length until successful. Now retry the drill without the ruler.

Drills increase in difficulty and are designed to be used in order.

Note: Games are designed to be used in a linear fashion beginning from the first game/drill and Progressing from there. Golfers with the best results have adhered to these follow guidelines.

Basic Speed Matching
Players: One
Shots: 5 successive points
Distance : Carpet speed


Using trial and error, determine the back swing you need to match the distance . Try to get all putts within 4 inches of the distance.

After finding the back swing length you need to stop all puts within 4 inches of the distance, try to do the same without the aid of the Back swing guide.
This drill helps develop feel and correlation for simple putting distances.
2, Over the Cliff
Players : 1 or more
shots: 3 successive puts
Distance :12 feet

Set up a 12 feet . Distance and determine your back swing length. Create an imaginary line or "cliff" that you cannot go over. try getting close to the line without going over.
This drill can be played with others by taking 3 successive putts at a time. Only the closest ball wins. One point is gained for each victorious round. Play to five.

This drill helps develop higher precision with your putting speed control.

3. The Cage
Players: 1 or more
shots : 3 successive putts each
Distance: 12+ feet

Determine the speed and use the back swing guide.

Set up a 'against a wall with some books or other item. Putt the ball inside the cage without hitting the wall or books. Vary the "cage" size and remove the back swing guide when you can putt 8 out of 10 into the "cage."
1 Point for each ball in the cage, but only the closest balls to the wall win points! Play to five.
This drill continues to increase your putting skills by adding accuracy with putting speed ability.

4. Horseshoe Putting
Players: 1 or more
Putts: 3 Successive putts
Distance : 15+ feet away


Determine the speed and back swing distance. Place a cup at the distance you are practicing.
Similar to horseshoes, you are putting to leave the ball touching the cup. You must be within 6 inches to count. Play to ten.
Remove the back swing guide when you can leave two out of ten putts touching the cup.
This drill continues to increase the intensity to really challenge your putting speed control and accuracy.

5. Blindfold Putting
Players: 1 or more
shots: 5 Successive
Try the horseshoe drill with a blindfold over your eyes!
This game is extremely good to develop the 'feel' of your putt and your ability to visualize. try to get each ball within 6 inches of the distance.
For a real challenge, try "Distance matching" with a blindfold!.
