An exercise bike works in just the same way that a normal bike works, you simply have to pedal which provides exercise for your legs. If you are wanting a more complete work-out then an exercise for your legs. If you are wanting a more complete work-out then an exercise bike is not a good option as they only exercise the legs, for a more complete all body work-out we suggest a rowing machine or Elliptical Trainer.

Exercise bikes usually have different level of resistance so that you can alter how hard the exercise is to do, This is great as when you get fitter and the cycling becomes easier you can increase the resistance to make it harder which will in turn make you even more fitter and stronger. There are some exercise bikes that are dual-action though and these provide some upper-body exercise so if you like exercise bikes and want an upper-body workout these are a good choice.


There is also another type of exercise bike which is the recumbent exercise bike, a recumbent exercise bike as a larger seat with back support and is positioned much lower down than a standard exercise bike recumbent exercise bikes are more stable and comfortable and are better for people with back or knee problems the are also generally of a much higher quality so usually cost allot more than standard exercise bikes.



Exercise bikes also have a console with an LCD screen that offers al kinds of information, these include the time you have been cycling, the distance you have cycled and the amount of calories that you have burnt. This is useful information as you can cycle for the same amount of time and try to improve on the distance you have covered and the calories you have butnt, you should do at least 30 minutes of exercise on your exercise bikes per session and aim to do this around 5 times per week.

There is a large range of exercise bikes that you can buy online with the cheap one s being very basic and the more expensive exercise bikes having more advanced features and more comfort, the comfort is very important as you will be using the exercise bike allot. You will probably know how it feels to use a hard, uncomfortable saddle is very important so it is often worth buying one of the more expensive exercise bikes just for the comfort, the cheap exercise bikes are good enough for basic use and will provide the exercise that you need but if you buy a cheap exercise bike you have to know they may not be very comfortable and you may suffer as a result.
