You are use Rowing machines simply sit on the seat and move back and forth pulling the handle as you go. Your knees should be bent when you are nearest to the Rowing machines base and straighten out as you move back with the rowing stroke, they should remain slightly bent at the furthest point of the stroke and you should keep our back straight at all times. You should wear some good footwear when rowing with most trainers being fine, all rowing machines have foot plates that have straps so that you can fix our self into the rowing machine as this makes rowing much easier.
There are lots of rowing machines that you can buy online so you are sure to find one that matches your budget, there are cheap rowing machines that are small and flat on the floor which have two separate handles with one for each arm. These are good if you really need a cheap rowing machine but if you can spend a little more to get one of the proper Rowing machines with an elevates base and single handle then this is very much recommended. This is because the provide a much better,rowing work-out, they do not cost that much more then the cheap Rowing machines so where-ever possible it is best to look for the better rowing machines.
Rowing machines use resistance to provide the difficult in rowing and most Rowing machines allow you to alter this resistance , this means that you can make the rowing easier to harder and adjust thus to make it harder as you fitness improves. Some Rowing machines do not have a resistance setting and actually get harder with the more effort you put in,this can be great as the resistance will always match your rowing ability. It can also make it easier for you to put less effort in though and row with less resistance so if you think you would be likely to find it difficult to keep your best effort up through motivation alone then these rowing machines should probably be avoided.Rowing machines have an LCD screen which provides all kinds of information , this varies from rowing machine to rowing machine but generally includes the time you have been rowing,the distance you have covered, the amount of strokes that you have completed, your speed and the calories you have burnt. This information is important as it allows you to keep track of how you are doing and see how your fitness is improving, the key is to row for the same amount of time each time you row and see how our performance improve. this can be judged the amount of strokes you do in your rowing session or by the distance you have traveled in that amount of time, if this increases then you know you are doing well. If you find the exercise is becoming easy then you can then increase the time that you row and set your self a new target for the strokes or distance based on our first rowing session of that amount of time and try to increase this as you go.
Some rowing machines also have a heart rate monitor which can be very useful as you can tell how effective the exercise you are doing is by the rate your heart is beating. If your heart is not beating fast enough and if it is beating too fast then you are pushing it too hard and should slow down, everyone has an ideal heart beat range that is determined by age and sex these are stated within the rowing machine's instructions.
